Rachel Mourão, Ph.D.
Dr. Mourão is an assistant professor of innovative technologies in the School of Journalism at Michigan State University. Her research focuses on the relationship between journalism, technology, and politics in the United States and Latin America. She has a Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida, where she specialized in the challenges faced by the press while covering social movements in Brazil. Dr. Mourão has won multiple awards, including top papers, top teaching projects, top reviewer, and best dissertation from the two major associations in Journalism Studies: the International Communication Association (ICA) and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). In 2021, she received the university-wide Teacher-Scholar Award at MSU.
