Laura Castro-Diaz

Laura Castro-Diaz's research focuses on the sustainability challenges of local rural communities in the Global South. She has worked on a range of topics from local fishing accords to public health and energy systems with minority groups in Colombia, Peru, and Brazil. She is interested in supporting local communities facing energy injustices generated by energy systems, in particular in areas where energy facilities are built. In her dissertation, she is exploring issues of energy justice and equity in the context of large-scale hydroelectric dams, and how these are differentiated by gender.
