Judy Walgren

Judy Walgren is a Pulitzer-prize winning photojournalist and the associate director for the Michigan State School of Journalism. At MSU, she teaches classes on photojournalism, documentary photography, immersive media and visual literacy. Before joining the faculty at MSU, Walgren led the visuals team at the San Francisco Chronicle, was the editorial director for ViewFind, a media start-up based in San Francisco, and worked on staffs at the Dallas Morning News, the Rocky Mountain News, and the Denver Post. She received an MFA in Visual Art from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and her research explores the relationships between photography, historic archives and power structures. Walgren is presently working as the project manager and creative director for the Convergence for Innovative Energy Solutions grant.
